The number of talented Latin Americans in the Bay Area always amazes me. Miguel Paredes, PhD is a perfect example.
I got introduced to Miguel by Patricio Daher the co-founder of Chilean 🇨🇱 AI company Blar. Miguel is Peruvian 🇵🇪 but over his life he lived back/ forth between Peru and the US.
He originally worked as a software engineer in the US, then in economic development in Peru, then moved back to the US to pursue his PHD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in data science and machine learning.
He would go back to Peru 🇵🇪 to lead AI and data analytics at Rimac Seguros y Reaseguros and get increasingly involved with LatAm startups at Endeavor Perú and work with various VC funds in the region.
He is back in the Bay Area and using his AI expertise in an operating role at Albertsons Companies and advising several VC funds including the AI Fund.
When Miguel Paredes, PhD visited me at my home he had just returned from a trip to Peru to present at the PECAP (Asociación Peruana de Capital Semilla y Emprendedor) conference and he was kind enough to bring a bottle of Pisco.
Miguel is amazing but most importantly he shares my passion for giving back and helping Latin American founders and companies be more successful.
