One of the best parts of my journey investing in Latin American companies and founders has been reconnecting with friends, colleagues, and classmates who are on similar paths.
One of my favorite experiences this year has been reconnecting with Courtney Kingston, my classmate from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
I remember when were at school, she did a class project on the wine business which I thought was super cool and very Californian. Little did I know she had plans to start a winery on her family’s 100 year old farm in Chile 🇨🇱.
20+ years later she and her team have built Kingston Family Vineyards, a great winery that fuses the best of California wine making with the Chilean traditions and staff that make the product special.
Like with all founders, I love to listen and learn about their business. Aside from great wine, much of Kingston Family Vineyards is about hosting events for companies, universities, and other teams on their beautiful property. I highly encourage anyone reading this post who is in Chile to check it out.
It was like being in a time warp when we reconnected since the last time we saw each other was in 1997. You realize at the end of the day we are all human and are on a journey to find fulfillment in our lives and work.
Courtney Kingston and I are on parallel missions. We both feel a deep connection to Latin America and sharing what we have learned with others to make them more successful is at the core of what we do.
I am super happy to have reconnected with Courtney and can’t wait to host a NuMundo Ventures event at her place in 2024 with all the wonderful people of Chile that I have met along my journey these last 5 years!
