Latitud’s LatAm tech report is a super comprehensive view of the world of technology and startups in Latin America.
I loved last year’s report so when I was asked to help with this year’s report I jumped at the chance to help Mariana Fonseca 🚀 and the entire Latitud team (e.g., Brian Requarth, Gina Gotthilf, Yuri Danilchenko, Tomas Roggio, Marcial Gonzalez Fraga) that has been so critical to my journey as an early stage investor in Latin America.
The report is very large so I have attached a documents with some of my favorite insights including:
1) despite progress in many countries, Mexico and Peru remain incredibly underbanked (page 22)
2) I really like the “market maps” which shows companies by sector of an industry. The fintech maps on pages 23-24 is really strong and includes several companies I have backed and supported (e.g., Jeeves, Belvo, Pomelo)
3) The “startup cases” pages highlight companies that some people may not be aware of that are doing amazing things. For example,
– Cashea (Pedro Julio Vallenilla Sosa) is bringing technology to credit in Venezuela.
– OneCarNow! (Mairon Sandoval) is providing cars to gig workers via a rent-to-own model.
– AltScore (Andres Perez Romo Leroux) is enabling embedded lending for non-financial companies.
– Colektia (Gabriel Monroy) is using AI to improve debt collection in LatAm.
4) Lending is challenging but remains an enormous need and opportunity for tech companies to innovate (page 40)
5) Insurance penetration in LatAm is 50% less than the global average (page 52).
6) Housing is really expensive for the average Latin American. Being based in the Bay Area I thought this was the worst market for housing affordability but it is 4X worse in Bogota and more than 10X worse in Buenos Aires!!!! (page 182)
7) Construction needs to digitize in Latin America (page 190).
I strongly encourage everyone who follows my LinkedIn to download the report (link at the bottom of this post).
As an investor and mentor to founders in fintech, proptech/construction tech, and logistics, this report is an incredible resource. However, the report covers many other industries (e.g., healthtech, SaaS, ecommerce) so there is something for everyone.

Thank you to everyone at Latitud for continuing to support the tech community in Latin America!
