I did my best to keep up 🏃♂️with Pedro Gutiérrez the co-founder and CEO of Avify | 500 Startups (B15) in the lovely town of Oaxaca, Mexico.
Avify helps businesses track inventory across different on-line and off-line channels. In particular their software integrates seamlessly with WhatsApp which is critical in Latin America.
Like many founders I have met in the last 5 years, Pedro and his team have had to decide how long to stay focused on their home market vs when to expand regionally. There is no right answer but I shared what I have seen work and not work and some ideas on how to think about regional expansion.
I was also reminded how many lessons learned by SaaS companies in the US and globally remain very applicable in Latin America. Whether it’s HubSpot or Atlassian there are so many insights that founders can take from those that came before.
I really enjoyed learning about the Avify | 500 Startups (B15) journey and the efforts of Pedro Gutiérrez and his cofounders Pilar Sánchez , Pablo Gutiérrez, and Alexis Valenciano . Thankfully I did not pull a hamstring while running 😂
